Adding Rest and Vitality to Daily Life
- Nam-gu Opens “Paldeung Family Wellness Center”, a Family Complex Space in the City Center -

The “Paldeung Family Wellness Center”, which will become a cultural, leisure, and resting space for residents of the Ulsan Nam-gu area, has opened its doors.

Nam-gu (Mayor Dong-wook Seo) held the opening ceremony of the “Paldeung Family Wellness Center”, a next-generation complex hub where health, culture, and care are organically connected, on the 29th.

A total budget of KRW 17.3 billion was invested in the “Paldeung Family Wellness Center Creation Project” promoted to expand the base of daily sports and improve welfare for local residents.

The center, located at 19 Wolpyeong-ro 81beon-gil, has a site area of 1,750.1 ㎡ and a total floor area of 2,953.32 ㎡, with one basement floor and three above-ground floors, and was completed in about two years after construction began in June 2024.

It is expected to establish itself as a complex community hub that raises the quality of life of local residents by being equipped with water play facilities including a swimming pool, Ulsan’s first public indoor playground installed and operated according to a separate ordinance, and Ulsan’s first women’s cultural center at the basic local government level among the 5 districts and counties in the region.

Looking at the main facilities, an indoor swimming pool with three 25 m lanes and an infant pool were created on the first floor to promote residents’ health and good use of leisure time.

On the second floor, an indoor children’s playground with a play space to enhance children’s creativity and imagination was built, and a joint childcare sharing center where neighbors can care for children together is also operated.

On the third floor, a women’s cultural center will be created to empower women and support cultural and leisure activities, operating various classes such as cultural/hobby programs and health programs, and it is planned to be decorated as a space where women exhausted from childcare, etc., can rest and heal.

On the first day of opening, a cooking class and a shuffle dance program for adults were operated at the women’s cultural center, a free play program for 1?2 year old children at the indoor children’s playground, and a five-senses play program with parents for children under 1 year old and their parents at the joint childcare sharing center, respectively.

The Paldeung Family Wellness Center Creation Project, promoted as part of the Sinjeong 3-dong Urban Regeneration Project, is expected to not only significantly improve the living environment by providing cultural, leisure, and resting spaces to residents but also to generate an effect of revitalizing the surrounding commercial districts due to an increase in the floating population.

It is expected to greatly contribute to the revitalization of the local economy, such as an increase in floating population by more than 600 people due to the influx of facility users, an average monthly increase in sales of more than KRW 10 million in the area, and the creation of about 48 new jobs.

Nam-gu Mayor Dong-wook Seo stated, “The Paldeung Family Wellness Center will be a special space where residents can simultaneously enjoy health, culture, and care in their daily lives,” adding, “We will continue to create changes that anyone can feel through various urban regeneration projects that reflect resident demand.”
