Ulsan Nam-gu inspects the “Southern Wide Area Tourism Development Project”
-Systematic inspection of key sites for the Southern Wide Area Tourism Development Project, along with the status of progress rate and safety management-

Ulsan Nam-gu (Mayor Dong-wook Seo) announced the inspection of the construction progress and safety management status, etc. by visiting the site of The Wave that is being carried out in connection with the Wales Cart and Whaleback Path establishment site, which is part of the “Southern Wide Area Tourism Development Project”.

The on-site management focused on systematic process management according to the planned schedule after careful inspection of the progress rate, along with inspecting the safety management system such as securing employee safety, etc.

The Whales Cart is Korea’s first circulating power experience facility that utilizes a dedicated 1.1 km track rail.

It is an extreme experience facility with carts decorated with various character designs such as Jangsaengi that traverse key landmarks within the Whale Culture Village at a maximum speed of 40 km/h, which currently has a 90% progress rate planned to be operated after pilot operation this April.

The Whaleback Path is a pedestrian overpass that will connect the Whales Swing (Whales Fantasium Sky Swing) which is under operation since last September and the Whale Plaza to ride the Coaster Cart, boasting a total length of 150 m and 3?4 m in width.

You can enjoy the scenery of the Whale Culture Village day and night from a height of 20 m, and is currently under construction since January with the goal of completion by June.

“The Wave” will be a complex culture facility composed of a 498.62 ㎡, 2-story wooden structure using Japanese cedar, along with a 6 m-high and 31m-long media tunnel for monorails.

It has a current progress rate of 60% since construction started on October last year, with the goal of completion by May this year.

Mayor Dong-wook Seo stated “We will strengthen supervision to prevent any safety accidents and increase perfection during the remaining construction period”, and “We will try our best to complete the project with minimal issues through rigorous process management and secure Nam-gu as a city of tourism.”
