Ulsan Nam-gu (Mayor Dong-wook Seo) announced on the 6th that it is implementing the “2026 Child Night Extension Care Business” to resolve gaps in nighttime child care. According to Nam-gu, a public protection system has been established so that children (ages 6?12) who need care during emergencies such as parents' illness, night work, business trips, or absence of guardians can be left safely late at night. The service is available to any citizen, even if they are not residents of Nam-gu. The location is 9 Dosan-ro, Nam-gu (Ijin Together Care Center), and operating hours are from 6:00 PM to midnight on weekdays. As a rule, reservations must be made by phone (Ulsan Support Team ☎+82-52-221-2729, Ijin Together Care Center ☎+82-52-257-3384) at least 2 hours before the desired usage time. The usage fee is KRW 1,000 per hour, up to a maximum of KRW 5,000 per day. It is free for Basic Livelihood Security recipients, the second-lowest income bracket (near-poverty group), and care-vulnerable groups (disabled, multicultural, single-parent families). For the first use, the applicant's ID card and family relation verification documents (Family Relation Certificate, Resident Registration Abstract) must be submitted. Those eligible for fee exemption must submit proof documents (Recipient Certificate, Family Relation Certificate, etc.). A Nam-gu official said, “We have established a public care system where guardians can entrust their children with peace of mind when nighttime child care is needed due to sudden situations,” adding, “As this is a newly implemented service, we will do our best to ensure it becomes a safe care system that satisfies both children and guardians.” |
