Ulsan Nam-gu (Mayor Dong-wook Seo) announced that the “OK Living Civil Complaints Task Force” operated by the district is expanding its role beyond handling resident-friendly civil complaints and protecting vulnerable groups to include the safety management of public facilities.

According to Nam-gu, as of the end of November, the OK Living Civil Complaints Task Force has processed a total of 7,427 complaints, establishing itself as a prevention-centered safety administration model beyond simple repair support.

Composed of 12 members across 6 teams and 1 call center staff member, the task force operates from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays. Every Wednesday, hours are extended until 8:00 PM to ensure accessibility for busy office workers.

Of the total cases processed, 6,439 (86%) were home visits. Support was concentrated on vulnerable groups, including 2,160 cases for Basic Livelihood Security recipients and 256 cases for the second-lowest income bracket (near-poverty group). Additionally, for 282 complaints from social welfare facilities, the team conducted electrical and plumbing inspections alongside safety measures, contributing to facility safety.

By type, civil complaints were most frequent for electricity (2,622 cases), followed by water (1,569 cases) and plumbing (1,247 cases). The team broadly resolved minor living inconveniences such as nail driving (575 cases) and door repairs (551 cases).
Furthermore, to strengthen the local safety net through safety inspections for vulnerable households, the team visited households referred by community service centers to check for heater overload, leaks, and damaged electrical outlets, providing emergency repairs and safety measures.

As the removal of risk factors also shows effects in preventing solitary deaths, Nam-gu operated a small appliance repair service without reservations during the summer to enhance resident convenience. With the increase in single-person and elderly households, the district plans to strengthen preemptive responses as issues connected to housing safety are rising.

The scope of management for the Public Facility Task Force was also expanded to 368 sites, an increase of 47 sites compared to the previous year. The system for preventative management of public facilities was strengthened by conducting regular patrol inspections parallel with minor repairs.
By shifting from a post-complaint response method to a system that pre-diagnoses aging sections and preemptively removes risk factors, the district is seeing results in lowering accident possibilities through initial inspections and minor repairs, as well as reducing large-scale maintenance costs.

A Nam-gu official emphasized, “As we have expanded our scope beyond resolving living complaints to protecting vulnerable groups and managing public facility safety, we will further upgrade our prevention-centered living safety administration next year.”
