Ulsan Nam-gu (Mayor Dong-wook Seo) announced on the 22nd that it has been honored with the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award for Traditional Market Revitalization (Local Government Category) for 2025, in recognition of its outstanding contributions to promote and invigorate traditional markets.

The award recognizes Nam-gu’s high-performing initiatives, including the digital transformation of traditional markets, improvements to market infrastructure, merchant capacity building, and customer-oriented revitalization programs. Nam-gu was the only local government in Ulsan to receive the award.

To strengthen the competitiveness of traditional markets, Nam-gu has established a digital information system, hosted festivals and events tailored to each market’s unique characteristics, and upgraded outdated facilities and safety infrastructure. Through these efforts, the district has enhanced both market competitiveness and the consumer experience, playing a leading role in revitalizing the local economy.

Mayor Dong-wook Seo remarked, “This award represents a meaningful achievement jointly realized by Nam-gu and its merchants. We will continue to actively support our traditional markets so that they remain at the heart of the local economy and a beloved destination for residents.”
