The 29th Ulsan Whale Festival hosted and organized by Ulsan Nam-gu (Mayor Dong-wook Seo) and the Whale Culture Foundation will be held for 4 days from Sep. 25 to 28 in the Jangsaengpo Whale Culture District.

The official topic of the festival will be “Gift From a Whale”, with the slogan of “Whales Bring Us the Hope of Tomorrow”.

Just 10 days away, the Ulsan Whale Festival will spotlight its core theme of “Immersion, experience, and family” and showcase cutting-edge technologies such as AR, AI, and robotics. The festival will also mark its transformation into a representative family festival enjoyed by both parents and children through a variety of experiential and participatory programs.

# The “Whale Theater” combining technology and performance... Enhancing immersion from opening to closing

The main stage “Whale Theater” will kick off with an opening performance that combines AR and robot performances. Additionally, the stage will be filled with public-friendly performances such as the musical gala performance, whale open concert, and whale orchestra, etc., and the closing performance is planned to be finished off with a large-scale direction of a blend of technology and music.

# Jangsaengpo becomes a stage... Enjoy casual street busking performances while walking

The busking zone will be expanded in the Jangsaengpo square area. All-day small-scale performances centered around music and dance will create a festive atmosphere, inviting visitors to pause and enjoy. Visitors will encourage longer through a design that connects busking, square, and flea market.

# Hands-on ecological conservation education... From AR and robot experience to family mission events

The experience and event booth was greatly strengthened this year. In the AR and robot experience zone, you can directly experience an interactive program that combines AI and robotics, and the marine ecological conservation education will be consisted of game-type content where children can learn hands-on. The on-site mission event “Golden Whale Treasure Hunt” encourages participation from whole families.

# The heart of the festival “Whale Table” upgrades to a Jangsaengpo-style food zone

The main food zone “Whale Table” will expand to offer a wider variety of menus and performances tailored to the mood. As a food-based rest and meeting area, it plays the role of an experience hub that connects busking with the flea market.

# Citizen-participatory flea market held during the whole festival period

The citizen-participatory flea market run by sellers and citizens nationwide will be operated during the entire festival period. The hours of operation will span from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, which will be decorated as a small city within the festival that will encourage family visitors to stay and bring out exchange.

Nam-gu mayor Dong-wook Seo, who is also the chairman of the Whale Culture Foundation highlighted, “This year’s Ulsan Whale Festival contains cutting-edge technology and an eco-friendly message at the same time, where we strived to complete a festival where families can experience together and imagine the future”, and “We will transform the Jangsaengpo Whale Culture District into a large stage to present a festival above festivals to visitors.”
