On the 27th, Ulsan Nam-gu (mayor Dong-wook Seo) has signed an MOU for joint response towards the population problem such as declining fertility rates and population aging with the Ulsan Branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association.

A total of six officials from Nam-gu Office and the Ulsan Branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association attended the signing ceremony. Through this agreement, both organizations will actively respond to changes in the population structure and establish a cooperative framework to build a sustainable community.

The key contents of the agreement includes mutual cooperation for low birth rate and aging population response, creating an environment that is easy to raise children through work-family balance, discovering methods to enhance population vitality and establishing a mutual cooperation system, and promotion and education to improve resident perception, etc.

Using this agreement as an opportunity, Nam-gu plans to work with the Ulsan Branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association to develop joint response strategies to address the issue of population decline. The district also plans to systematically promote and conduct educational programs on population policies for all generations within the community.

Nam-gu mayor Dong-wook Seo emphasized, “As the population crisis is a critical task that is directly correlated to regional extinction, the importance of joint-response between administration and the private sector is higher than ever”, and “We will actively perform various cooperation projects so population policies by the local society can lead to practical results.”

Meanwhile, Nam-gu also plans to consistently carry out population policy promotional activities targeting diverse social classes.
