On the 3rd, Ulsan Nam-gu (Mayor Dong-wook Seo) held a briefing session at the meeting room of the 2nd annex building of the Ulsan Nam-gu Office to explain the eased designation criteria for alleyway commercial districts to local merchant associations.
Following the revision of the Ordinance on the Designation and Promotion of Alleyway Commercial Districts, the briefing session was held to provide guidance on key revised items, application procedures for alleyway commercial district designation, information on support projects, and to collect the opinions of merchants. The key amendments to the ordinance include lowering the density requirement for alleyway commercial district designation from 30 or more small businesses within 2,000 ㎡ to 15 or more, removing the need for consent from land and building owners, and excluding public areas such as parks and parking lots from the designated zone. Accordingly, the hurdle towards alleyway commercial district designation has been significantly lowered. Thanks to this revision, small-scale alleyway districts that fell short of alleyway commercial district designation can now apply for application. Designation as a alleyway commercial district provides eligibility towards Onnuri Gift Certificate merchant registration along with participation in facility and management modernization projects and various contests. Additionally, Nam-gu is planning to cooperate with the Ulsan Regional Office of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to provide various types of support for the merchant association that is experiencing difficulties in preparing related documents such as consent from merchants, etc. during the process of alleyway commercial district designation. Nam-gu mayor Dong-wook Seo stated, “The designation of alleyway commercial districts is expected to serve as a turning point in enhancing the competitiveness of small local businesses and will positively contribute to revitalizing the local economy.” He added, “We will continue to actively discover and promote eligible districts so that more local businesses can benefit from the program.” |
