Nam-gu Sinbok Library announced its selection for the 2025 “Humanities on the Road” project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and supervised by the Arts Council Korea, in which the program will be operated from the upcoming July 16th until October 22, targeting 20 Ulsan citizens.
“Humanities on the Road” is a project that utilizes local humanities resources based on cultural facilities such as libraries and museums to discover and expand the charm of the region, and spread humanitarian values to contribute to residents’ quality of life. Sinbok Library is launching a program under the theme “Our Journey Through Ulsan’s Cultural Heritage (An Ulsan History Tour: The More You Know, the More You See).” The program invites participants to trace the footsteps of Ulsan’s history through its cultural sites and discover the region’s unique stories. The program will consist of 10 sessions, including seven lectures, two field trips, and one follow-up meeting, with the goal of helping participants write their own field reports through writing workshops and, ultimately, compile a collective publication titled Ulsan Cultural Heritage Field Report. Nam-gu mayor Dong-wook Seo said, “Through the Sinbok Library’s “Humanities on the Road” program, I hope we can discover Ulsan’s unique identity and foster greater love for the region and pride in being a citizen of Ulsan,” and added, “We will continue to strive to the library to become a base for humanities within daily life so anyone can easily experience and enjoy history and culture.” |
