On the 3rd, the Ulsan Nam Gu Public Health Center announced taht it will operate exercise programs in 6 outdoor plazas, including Ulsan Grand Park, from April to October, excluding the winter months. This initiative aims to create an exercise-friendly environment in daily life.
The outdoor exercise program is Nam-gu’s key outdoor exercise program that has been constantly taken place since 2011, created to develop exercise habits and prevent chronic diseases for local residents who have difficulties in making time to exercise in their busy schedules. Especially, it will consist of exercises that can be easily followed by anyone, such as stretching, aerobics, dance, and strength training, all accompanied by exciting music in nearby parks and along riversides. There were 48,300 participants for the outdoor plaza exercise program last year, which is a 24% increase compared to 38,939 participants in 2023. The Nam Gu Public Health Center plans to introduce three new morning classes in addition to the existing six evening classes, resulting in a total of nine classes to better meet the needs of local residents. There are 6 locations including the Ulsan Grand Park (East entrance multi-purpose field), Seonam Lake Park (Deck in front of the management building), Munsu Sports Park (Hoban plaza), Dal-dong Culture Park (Clock tower plaza), Beonyeonggyo Bridge outdoor plaza, and Shinsamhogyo Bridge outdoor plaza, where the 3 locations of Ulsan Grand Park, Beonyeonggyo, and Shinsamhogyo will respectively operate 2 classes in the mornings and evenings. The days of operation will be Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, to accommodate residents' convenience and participation times. The morning class runs from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, and the evening class from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. Director Tae-uk Yu of the Nam Gu Public Health Center commented that “By implementing exercise programs in parks and along the riversides that are popular among residents, families, and friends, we will foster an environment that allows all residents to easily access physical activity. This initiative aims to promote a healthy Nam-gu, where exercise becomes an integral part of daily life.” |
