Nam-gu District Council held the 243rd provisional session and the 1st plenary session meeting on Jul. 1 to form the 8th Nam-gu Council for the first half of the year, and elected the chair and vice chair of the Council as well as the chairs of the Standing Committee and the Special Committee on Ethics.

The plenary session was commenced by Yim Geum-taek, the oldest among the most elected members of the council. In the initial round of voting, Lee Jeong-hun was elected as the chair of the Council, garnering overwhelming support from council members.

Park In-seo received 13 votes as vice chair of the Council. Kim Bu-yeol was elected as the chair of the Steering Committee, Kim Dae-yeong as the chair of the Government Administration and Home Affairs Committee, Kim Jang-ho as the chair of the Welfare Construction Committee, and Lee So-young as the chair of the Special Committee on Ethics unanimously. The election proceedings for the chair and vice chair of the Council, chair of the Standing Committee, and chair of the Special Committee on Ethics were carried out amicably by all council members.

In his thank you speech after winning the election, Chair Lee Jeong-hun emphasized, “The 8th Nam-gu Council will not only need to work hard to promote the welfare of Nam-gu residents, but also play a pioneering role in realizing advanced local governance along with local development through cooperation between council members.”

Meanwhile, the Council will appoint the chair of the Standing Committee and the chair of the Special Committee on Ethics in the upcoming second plenary session on Jul. 4. The opening ceremony for the 8th Nam-gu Council will be held in the presence of Seo Dong-wook, head of Nam-gu, completing the formation of the 8th Nam-gu Council for the first half of 2022.
