Ulsan Nam-gu reported on March 18 that it will renovate four parks (Gamgol Park, Saerom Park, Eoul Park, Eunbi Park), which had fallen into decay, into eco-playgrounds in downtown by the end of June.

The three parks, in addition to Gamgol Park, have been used as children's parks for the past 25 years since their construction, and even though they are green space rest areas used frequently by local residents, the park facilities and amenities show aged conditions.

Nam-gu plans to reconstruct them as spaces that can increase familiarity with nature by installing children's play facilities including a sand playground, wooden playground, swings, and rolling hill for children to experience the natural ecology.

By constructing a rest space and walking paths, they will be recreated as a healing space to be used by local residents and their children.

An amount of 830 million KRW will be invested in the eco-playground construction project, and construction will begin in April.

Nam-gu's acting mayor Mr. Kim Seok-gyeom, who is deputy mayor of Nam-gu, said, “We hope that downtown eco playgrounds can improve children's emotional development and creativity and provide a resting space for our local residents.”

Meanwhile, there are some 80 children's parks and 16 small parks in the downtown area of Nam-gu that provide environmentally friendly safe play spaces for children and resting places and communication spaces for local residents.
